Dear Marjorie, I knew Lloyd as a fellow neurochemist and enjoyed working with him in coonection with the ASN and ISN. He was an excellent scientist and was very fair-minded. He was not a man of many wor Knowing his Michigan roots, I enjoyed kidding him this time of year.
Ricky joins me in extending our sympathy and best wishes. Bernie Agranoff

To family, friends and colleagues of Lloyd. Dr. Horrocks was my mentor as I pursued my Ph.D. at OSU. It was only through his dedication to the education of young scientists that I earned my Ph.D. in 1985 and thus the honor to call him Lloyd. He was especially helpful in allowing me to travel to meetings and introducing me to his friends, all esteemed scientists, some with whom I still collaborate to this day. I learned he was working on a manuscript the night of his passing-- knowing him, he probably still is.
Fondly remembered-

Marge, Rich, Becky and families,
It was with surprise and shock that we received the news of Lloyd's passing a week ago. Our memories go back at least 45 years with visits to and from the two of you in many places. We shall miss the email humor that he sent frequently. And, in person, he had great, wry humor.
Please accept our sympathy in the passing of your loving and wonderful husband and father.

To
Lloyd's family:
I am one of those who regularly has lunch at the Faculty Club at the
community table frequented by Lloyd. That is how I came to know him.
Lloyd was very well informed and was an active participant in
lunch-time discussions on a wide range of topics, especially those
involving the proper role of government in society. My views were often
different from his, but I admired his very good nature and his
acceptance of colleagues with different views. In the area of music and
the arts, Lloyd and I were usually in complete agreement. We often
shared our views on local symphony and opera performances. As the
obituary mentioned, Lloyd was a gentleman. He also achieved much in his
career. You can be very proud of him.

Dear Mrs. Horrocks, Becky, Rick, and Family,
I am so sad to hear about Dr. Horrocks. I have so many wonderful memories of him. He took beautiful pictures at my wedding and all of my brother and sisters' weddings. I also have fond memories of trips to Cedar Point when our families went up there together. I have always kept up with your famiy even though I live so far away. I never realized the last time that I saw him would be the last time that I would see him. He is truly one of the nicest men I have ever known, as is the rest of your family. Please know that you all are in my prayers. I love you all.

I cannot even began to explain what Mr. and Mrs. Horrocks have meant to me over the years. They allowed me to sit at their dinner table night after night un-invited as a child. There daughter Becky and I were together every day, and most of those days were spent at the Horrocks house. Mr. Horrocks always laughed at Becky and my behavior. There are a few things about Mr. Horrocks that stand out to me. One how much he loved his family. First with Rick and Becky and later with all of their children. He loved and tried to spoil all of them. Also how much he loved Ohio State Buckeyes. And last is something I will always be thankful to Mr. Horrocks for. In 1973 Becky and I were running around their house playing horses (as always)when Mr. Horrocks stopped us and told us to watch the television. We were about to watch something great. It was the Belmont and we watched Secretariat win that great race. If it had not been for Mr. Horrocks I would have never seen that race. Anyone who knows me realizes how important that great event would mean to me. Thank you Mr. Horrocks (sorry I realized I still call you Mr. Horrocks when it should be Dr. Horrocks.) for putting up with me all those years and being such a kind and wonderful person. Mrs. Horrocks I love you and you will be in my prayers. Lori Mundew Collins

Dear Marjorie and family,
It has been several years since we have seen each other, but the memories of fun, laughter, and good food remain whenever and wherever we got together. I distinctly remember Dr. Vince Lombardi always speaking of Dr.Lloyd Horrocks with the deepest respect and highest honor. You were all just great people to be around! I am deeply saddened to read that he has passed on. He was a brilliant man who contributed so much to society for a better life. My deepest sympathy. He left a legacy that will remain forever.
