Lora Spencer Obituary

SPENCER Lora Ater Palmer Spencer, 70, of Columbus, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, October 3, 2008. She was born July 15, 1938 in Washington C.H., the daughter of the late Henry and Leona (Matson) Ater. She was employed by K-Mart for 15 years. Lora was known as a thoughtful, loving person who tried to make others happy. She enjoyed collecting different kinds of knick-knacks, especially pigs, angels and crystal pieces. She also enjoyed going to yard sales and bargain hunting. She loved being with her family and adored her grandchildren. Lora was preceded in death by her sister Harriet and sister-in-law Linda Ater. She is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, James Edwin Spencer; son, Dale (Penny) Palmer and their daughter, Lauren and their son, Jonathan (Brittany) Palmer (Trevon and Kolin); son, Charles Palmer; his daughter, Amber (Artie) Nichols (Shelby, Emily and Sarah), all of Jeffersonville; step-son, Shawn Spencer of McArthur; sisters, Rita (Donald) McClain and Mary (Billy) Oswalt of Columbus and Pat Jacobs of Lakeview; brothers, Dick (Lou) Ater and Jack Ater of Jamestown; and Ronald (Bonnie) Ater of South Dakota; sister-in-law, Catherine Margaret Hartley of Akron; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY, 3920 Broadway, with Pastor Malcolm Buck officiating. Graveside at 1 p.m. at Silver Creek Cemetery, Jamestown. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with a service by American Legion Post Aux. #532 at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Jim and family,
Lora was a really nice person and a good friend to my mom, Laurine. I know that she had alot of challenges to handle, but she handled them very well and kept on going. I had not seen her in awhile. You have my deepest sympathy.
