Mark E Howard, Jr., 84, of Columbus, OH, passed away on March 12, 2021.
Mark was born on August 23, 1936 to Mark Sr. and Helen Howard. After graduating from Rosary High School in 1954 he went on to proudly serve in the United States Army. Following that term, he began working and ultimately built a very successful 25-year career in Information Technology. In 1953 he met Frances Colucci and she became the love of his life. They wed in 1958, went on to have one son, Christopher, and enjoy 62 years of marriage. Mark was fortunate enough to retire at an early age enabling him to pursue his passion for motorsports including cars, motorcycles, boats, and jet skis. He loved anything fast with a motor and had a special admiration for the rumble of a big V8 with pipes. A self-proclaimed "Professional Wanderer" during his retirement years, Mark was a talker and a jokester… and could almost always lighten up a dark mood. Mark was strongly opinionated, headstrong, and direct… but those who were close to Mark knew that aside from his sometimes tough exterior, he was one of the most loving, compassionate, and generous persons they would ever meet, and the best Father a Son could ever ask for. Mark is survived by his wife, Frances, his son, Christopher, daughter-in-law, Dorothea, and all of his Buckeye Lake friends! Mark was my supervisor, manager and boss for 20 years at Columbus City Schools. I was a programmer/analyst and he taught me a lot about coding. He was a very funny guy.
