Martha Jean Sigler

SIGLER Martha Jean Sigler, age 89, of East Liberty died Saturday, November 12, 2005, at Mayfair Village Nursing Center in Columbus following a three-week illness. She was retired from the Logan County Treasurer's Office following 24 years of employment from June, 1961 to November, 1985, and formerly served as the Clerk of Perry Township from 1948-1963. She was a member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church and was a 1933 graduate of the former Zanesfield High School. Martha Jean loved playing euchre and bridge, spending time with her friends and neighbors, collecting owls, working crossword puzzles, and reading. She was a very special and unique lady who was deeply admired and loved by her family. She was born November 24, 1915, in the Zanesfield area to the late Chauncey and Edna Bewley Corbet. She married Laverne Sigler on August 10, 1940, and he preceded her in death on December 25, 1954. She was also preceded in death by a brother Robert Corbet. Survivors include her daughter, Carrol Sue (Randall) Aylesworth; two granddaughters, Susan (Geoffrey) Retz and Laura (Scott) Rollins; two great grandchildren, Abigail Retz and Zachary Rollins, all of Columbus; a brother, Norman (Patricia) Corbet, Seville; two nieces, Connie (Jerry) Goldberg, Cuyahoga Falls and Patricia Corbet, Akron; a nephew, Robert Corbet, Akron; a great niece, Lisa (Brian) Russell; a great great niece, Samantha Russell; and her very special friend and caregiver, Amber Eirich, East Liberty. Services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the MANNASMITH-SCHNURRENBERGER FUNERAL HOME, 222 West Center St., West Mansfield, Ohio. Dr. Jason Robson will officiate and burial will take place at Zanesfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
