Michael Rike Obituary

RIKE Michael Leigh Rike, our beloved, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 27, 2010. He attended Trinity United Church, was born September 3, 1987, and was only 22 years old. He is survived by his mother, Pamela A. Rike; and his brother, James Joseph Rike, Jr.; and his two sisters, Sandra Wood who is married to Thomas Wood who has two children Tommy and Brandon Wood and Samantha Rike; and his three children, Sid Alexander Jones, Jason Michael Dale Rike, and James Joseph Simon Rike; and his fiance Angela Marie Petrie. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 E. Main Street, Reynoldsburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his family in assistance with final expenses. Messages may be sent to his family by visiting www.cotnerfuneralhome.com

i was with michael all the way through high school and after high school. WE was together for a year and he helped get through rough time and always made me laugh. when we found that i was having his first son, he looked at me and said that he wanted to name sid! he hold me up high and had my back all the way. sid looks and has his daddy attitudes. Pam, don't remember if you remember me or not But I do remeber your family.I was president of the LDIES AUXILARY @ GAHANNA FWB. We worked together reaaly good. I was just shock when Mom and Teresa told about Mike.I hope this brings you and your family closer to the Lord, because none of us are pormised our next breath.We have got to be ready for whenever the Lord calls us home. You can call me if you like, I think about you all the time.

I am so sorry for mikes family and close friends.i knew him well as teenagers.although i have spoke to him in a few years i am still very sad to hear about his death.i feel very bad for his children and fiance. may god give them the strength to pull through this hard time.ill be praying for his family.

I am heart broken. I loved you like a son and so glad you were part of my life. You always had such a great smile and were always so positive about everything. Even when life threw you a curve you caught it and did what you could with it. Glad I got to hug you one last time. You are sadly missed Babe. Keep a watch over us big guy! Love you Big Mike :)

I use to know mike back in the day, we all use to hang out. I havent seen him in a while, but that doesnt mean I forgot about him. I was just thinking about how I would like to see him and hang out since its been so long, then I got the call that he was gone.... I give my condulinses to his family and children. Ill miss him so. Although he wasn’t one of mine, he was still a brother to my son and to my daughter. Together they shared a crowd of friends [not just 1 or 2, but quite a few]. If mike was in the crowd you knew he was there, for he would laugh and talk with one and all to make them all feel like part of the group. I got to observe all of this from the outside looking in, but was also lucky enough to have his help working on my house. In that short time I got to see that he was wise beyond his age. If I was to be asked does “BIG MIKE” stand for the size of Mikes big heart, my answer would be ‘HELL NO, IF NICK-NAMED FOR HIS HEART IT WOULD HAVE BEEN “HUGE MIKE”’!!!
I’ve said this once or twice, maybe more, but Ill say it agin.
Say hello to your friends of new and don’t forget to say it to the ones of old, for they helped shape you into who you are today. Say ‘Im sorry’ to those you argued with ‘cuz that chunk of marble will not say ‘I’m sorry’ too. A son, a brother to both family members and those from school, and a father of young.

I thought Cody and Erin just brought you over for first time a week or 2 ago, and now comes the hardest part of any friendship; having to say goodbye.

I've know Mike a very long time. I still can't believe that he's gone. I just seen him a couple days ago and got to meet his newborn babyboy. My heart goes out to his family and his fiance Angela. He'll forever be missed and will always remain close to my heart. RIP Mike

I've only known michael about a year,I could always depend on him for a laugh though,I loved his sense of humor.Inever knew him to ever speak bad of anyone.I know that he always treated me or anyone one he met with a kind word and a smile . I am sorry to hear about the death of Michael. I met Michael several years ago when he and my son, Eric, were in school together. The loss of a child is not easy and, as a parent, we are not supposed to experience the loss of a child. May you hold on to the memories you have of Michael and take each day as an opportunity to touch another life in his honor or memory. I hope you have faith in God that will allow you to move foward. Take care and know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
