Mildred Dean Obituary

DEAN Mildred "Middie" Seaman Dean, age 96, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Heartland of Marysville. She was born on September 15, 1913 to Carl and Annie Seaman in Layman, Ohio (Washington County). Middie attended Bartlett High and Vincent High School until the family was transferred to Stewart, Ohio. There she graduated from Rome Canaan High School in 1932. After graduating from Ohio University she taught school at Stewart 3rd and 4th grade. Middie married Paul Dean in June 1937. After he left for World War II she moved to Athens, Ohio to live with her family and worked during the war as a Deputy in the Athens County Auditors Office. Later the family transferred to Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by children, Jerre Dean and Dixie (Robert) Bowen; four grandchildren, Bryan, Barry, and Maggie Bowen and Jennifer (Peter) Smith. She is preceded in death by husband Paul Dean, sisters Ruth Seaman, Carol (Jack) Toomey, and Shirley (Jim) White, brother Carl (Rosemary) Seaman. Middie was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Upper Arlington, Leah Circle, and Rebeca Crafts. Family will receive friends on Monday, June 21, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. A graveside service with an inurnment to follow will take on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 11 a.m., West Union Street Cemetery on the corner of Shafer Street and Union Street, Athens, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43212.
