Memorial Day - thinking of, & missing Paul. Still expect to drive by the Westerville house & see him sitting out in his garage. Wish I could tell him that I finally have bluebirds! God keep you & your Julia close.

As former neighbors of Paul's Mike & I would like to express our condolences to Paul's family. Personally I will cherish the memory of Paul sitting in front of his opened garage chatting with neighbors, reading, or completing crossword puzzles. He shared stories of his time in the Pacific arena during WWII with me while sharing his cookies with my dog, Sweetie. The stories made me thankful of my American heritage AND of the brave young men that faced incredible sites, sounds , & smells of the tragedy of war so far away from home. I loved your father/grandfather/great-grandfather. He will not be forgotten in my heart, & I am hopeful my Sweetie is sitting by his side in heaven sharing cookies with him. You have taught me that bitterness does not necessarily accompany growing old. You were mentally sharp & gracious till the end. I love you, Paul, & am blessed to have known you. Hope to see you again sometime & bring you another slice of pie!

Paul called Dani the barefoot goddess because she walked home from school carrying her shoes.

Although we know Paul has been praying to join Julia for some time now; it is still so difficult for us to believe he's not sitting outside with a crowd around him! We were blessed to be his neighbor for many years and still stopped by for visits. My daughter, Danielle, had the photo I posted and was going to take him a copy of it tomorrow. She said she will now put it on her fridge; because she knows it would have gone on his. Our dog, Lila, fled for Paul's if the front door opened...he saved her coffee and gave her cookies! Knowing Paul, listening to his wonderful stories, helping him with the crossword of the day occasionally when he got stuck and being coached on his views of the news were gifts to our family. A life well lived, a man well loved and a great loss to us all in this world. Heaven has gained another dear angel!
