Raymond Derrickson Obituary

Derrickson Raymond Earl Derrickson. Our precious son, Raymond Earl Derrickson, was called Home to be with his Lord on February 25, 2017. Raymond was born on January 24, 1984. He is survived by his parents, Lillian Kathryn (Johnson) and William Hicks Derrickson, Jr.; two brothers, Michael Jeffrey (Vanessa Marie) and William Hicks Derrickson, III (Debora Jo); so many aunts, uncles, cousins and three beautiful nieces, Autumn, Bella, and Gracelyn; and one nephew, Jax. So many People loved Raymond, more than the family ever imagined. Raymond was born in New Jersey and at 5 years old moved to the Chicago area then relocated one more time to Columbus, OH; where he lived when the Lord called him home. Raymond suffered for several years with many undiagnosed medical issues. Raymond's medical issues never stopped his zest for life. Raymond loved life and laughter. A memorial will be given by a great friend and mentor, Pastor Jobe on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, 1288 West Broad St., Columbus OH. Family and friends are all invited to celebrate Raymond's life and get together immediately following the service at the Church for a reception and fellowship.

Ray you are deeply missed. You have always been the laughter everyone needed, despite your own well being. You were more concerned for everyone else. You were a truly dedicated friend. RIH Friend

Ray, you are missed by so many that loved you and were blessed to know you. You were an awesome Man and God hand selected your Mom and Dad they were so lucky to be called Mom and Dad by you. You always called me Aunt Bossy, no surprise, and told me elaborate made up stories, which I always believed. Your life ended too soon, but I will always be grateful I got to spend time with you and get to know you. Love and Miss you forever.

Ray of course you would ride a human horseback.

Ray, you are missed by so many, you touched the lives and hearts of all those that were blessed to know you. You loved telling Aunt Bossy unbelievable stories; that she believed. I am so happy I was able to spend time with you in Ohio. You were a special Man, with the best parents God selected just for you. I could go on and on about your personality and love of life but those that know you already know that about you. Miss you and Love you.

Oh my Sweet Baby Ray❤❤ One of my best memories was one day when I visited you at the nursing home. You told me they had you on suicide watch because you had told the nurse you were going to jump out the window. You were on the first floor...she apparently didnt quite get your sense of humor. . I bet you have everyone in heaven in stitches.

Ray, you were one of the strongest people i have ever known. Despite all of your medical issues, it was others that you thought about when they needed something. You lived such a full life and always tried to live the best life you could. I will cherrish the times I got to spend with you. I will never forget you and will always miss you and love you. Sincere condolences Kathy and Bill. My heart aches for you today. I know you're in pain now but hopefully as time passes you can look back at all the happy memories you have had together. Ray was a great guy and a lot of fun. He was loved by many. He obviously touched a lot of people during his life time. May you Rest In Peace Ray. Heaven got a great guy and we're going to miss you here on earth.

To The Family:
I'm sincerely sorry for the loss of your dear son. May you find comfort in knowing that those who have fallen asleep in death God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. May you continue to reflect on your cherished memories of your loved one. Psalm 116:15

Ray was another of our "somewhat, semi, unofficial adopted kids" at church. He and I were so much alike with our humor. My family loves Ray. We will miss him, but we know he no longer has all his medical issues and is whole again. He is running around the streets of glory pulling gags and telling corny jokes and puns, but most of all praising his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Our sincere condolences to the Derrickson family in the loss of your dear love one. Our prayers are as yours, that God provide his care and comfort you each day. - Ps 145:18,19

February 28, 2017

Just like he could never stand it to sit for too long in his chair or lie too long in his bed, Ray was too much for his shell. His personality was far beyond anything that his physical being would allow him to be. Gregarious, caring, giving, and truly larger than life, he inspired me with his big heart and gentle soul despite the hardships he faced.

My life is forever better for knowing him.

February 28, 2017

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Ray. We will remember Ray's sense of humor and caring nature toward our residents. He had many friends here and was also our beloved mail man. From all of us at The Laurels of Norworth.
