Reginald Benson Obituary

BENSON Reginald I. "Benny" Benson, 79, of Kenton, Oh., died 10:30 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2005 at Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born October 27, 1925 in Grates Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, son of Gideon and Gladys (Avery) Benson. He was retired from Rockwell International in Columbus, Oh. in 1986 and was the co-owner of the Kenwood Motel in Kenton from 1965-1974. He graduated from St. John's High School in Newfoundland, Canada and attended Franklin University in Columbus, Oh. He was a member of the First Christian Church and attended the Ruskin Methodist Church in Ruskin, Fla. He was a Korean War Veteran serving from 1948-1952 in the U.S. Air Force. He was a life member of Orbiting Squares Western Square Dance Club. Survived by wife, Martha Jane Collins, whom he married September 5, 1952; sons, Robert E. (Nancy) Benson of Dublin, Oh. and Steven R. Benson of Kenton, Oh.; 3 grandchildren, Trevor, Nick and Trista Benson; 4 sisters, Marion Longo of Va., Vera Moore, Ruby Reaper and Melvie Miller, all of Columbus, Oh.; brother, Alton (Gwen) Benson of Fla. Preceded in death by brothers Clyde and Frank and sister Sara Forward. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the SCHINDEWOLF-STEVENS-STOUT FUNERAL HOME, Kenton, Oh., where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005. Burial Hale Cemetery, Mt. Victory, Oh. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected].
