My deepest sympathies go to you all. Words cannot express the heartbreak felt. Dick was such an upstanding father, grandfather, pillar of the community and church, citizen, fair and one of the most decent person that I have to know in my life. His legacy lives through his children and grandchildren. In 1992,I was welcomed into your family by marrying Mark. I was young, naive and pretty much a messed up kid who came from a lot of dysfunction. I needed you all more than you probably realized and probably more than I realized at the time. I truly felt loved and accepted from day one. Thank you for being an instrumental part of shaping me as an adult and leading by example of what a family is supposed to be like. The strong bond of love, loyalty, support of one another is instilled into all of you. I am proud to say that my daughter Kiersten is a Helsel and that I too still carry your name with pride.
Edana Bell, Mark, Mike, Robin & Nancy... A great man is gone from this earth and from our lives as we know it, but I haven't a single doubt that he is an angel watching over all of us from Heaven above.
God Bless you all always.

Time and distance may take us far from where we began, but that house in Obetz is never far from my heart. Football games in the icy cold on the frozen ground out back, going to prom in the biggest Caddy I had ever seen, feeling at home with friends that seemed more like family. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, but I know that comfort resides in God's arms. Praying for you all.

Edana & Family:

Words can not adequately express our sorrow upon learning of the passing of our friend and professional colleague, Dick Helsel. He was a leader and pillar of stability on the Franklin County Educational Service Center Board of Education during my 17-year tenure. His vision and expertise in fiscal management had a tremendous impact on the growth and expansion of the services provided by the center.

Dick was a family man who loved his wife, and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid golfer who lived by the motto "short, but straight", but often won the trophy or prize!

Dick Helsel is now in a much better place. May he rest in peace.

Dick was a great person. He helped so many people when they were in need and never expected anything in return. He was a true giver. Never a taker. We'll miss him greatly.
