Richard Wright Obituary

Richard Lee Wright, 74, of West Frankfort went to be with Jesus at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013, surrounded by his family in Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon. He was born on November 23,1938 the son of Leon & Gladys (Stone) Wright. He married Sheila (Murphy) Wright on October 21, 1962 and they enjoyed 50 years together.

He was a graduate of F.C.H.S., Class of 1957. Richard served his country enrolling in the U.S.A.F. from 1957 thru 1961. Richard worked for Inland Steel Coal Co. & Consol Consolidated Coal Co. . His mining career spanned 33 years and worked as a shop repairman. He was gifted in mechanical knowledge. He could, and did, fix any & everything around the house and loved working in his shop doing woodcrafts and was always willing to help anyone in anyway. He loved to work and plant in his garden. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Most of all he loved his family and his church family. He was a member of the Logan Church of God in Logan were he served on the Church & Pastor Council and was a member of the Thompsonville American Legion Post 1194 and the U.M.W.A. local 1545. Richard had a gentle and loving heart and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. We'll love you forever, our loved one you'll always be.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila and sons, Richard A. (Julie) Wright & Michael (Debbie) Wright; his grandchildren, Heather (Jim) Craver, Leaticia (Patrick) Bullock, Tiffany, Dalton & Mindy Wright; great grandchildren, Jace Craver, Jaylen Wright, Owen Craver; extended great grandchildren, Noah Schneider, Evan Schneider & Emma Schneider; his mother, Gladys Wright, West Frankfort a brother, Curtis (Louise) Wright, and sisters, Carolyn Schwenn, Madison, WI & Brenda (Mike) Pike, Thompsonville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Wright, several aunts & uncles, brothers & sisters-in-law.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Logan Church of God with Pastor David Mays officiating. Burial was in the Logan Church of God Cemetery with Military Rites by the Thompsonville American Legion Post 1194 and by the Marion Funeral Honor Team. Visitation was after 9 a.m. Sunday at the Church. Parker - Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of Arrangements. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Sheila, Richie, Scott, Gladys, Curtis & Brenda.
Richard was always in my life as a neighbor who took the neighbor kid hunting occasionally to the friend who would just stop and talk on his way home from visiting his Mother.
He will always be remembered with
fondness at the McClement house.
