Robert Layne Martin

MARTIN Robert "Bob" Layne Martin, age 55, of Johns Island, SC, formerly of Groveport, OH, went to be with God unexpectedly on November 27, 2012. He was born October 18, 1957 in Detroit, MI to Nona Jane and Richard L. Martin, Groveport, OH. He was a proud 1977 graduate of Groveport Madison High School, where he participated in varsity football and wrestling. He served in the U.S. Army and was employed by CCX Inc. at the time of his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and had an unfaltering commitment to his values. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and living life his way. Anyone who met Bob remembers him for his strong beliefs and support for his family. He was preceded in death by wife Marguerite Martin, mother Nona Jane (Blake) Martin, siblings Richard Martin Jr., David B. Martin, Kimberly J. Martin, grandparents, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Merritt) Martin; daughters, Candee, Jennifer, and Stephanie (Jonathan) Sparkman; grandchildren, Christian, Titan, Storm, Rose and Luke; father, Richard (Bette) Martin; siblings, Diana (Virgil) Thompson, Brenda (Buddy) Moody, Becky (Roger) Vanest, Mike Martin, Jean (Ed) Mitchell; many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 West Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, with Minister James Martin officiating. Interment Groveport Cemetery.
