Ron Foth Obituary

Foth Ron Foth Sr. Celebrating the blessed life of our beloved Ron Foth Sr., who passed away Monday, September 14, 2015. He was our cherished Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Friend, Magician, Marketing Mogul, Trumpet Player, and Golfer Extraordinaire! He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Josephine Foth. He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; his two adoring sons, Ron Jr. (Paula) and Mike (Mindi); his five grandchildren, Gracie, Claire, Ronnie III, Brandon and Ava; his sister, Marsha Nagy (Rick); his sister-in-law, Fran Precario; brother-in-law, Pete Precario (Cheri); special nephew, Mallory and nieces, Laurie (Chris), Sherry (Jason), Catherine and India. Plus his favorite four-legged friend, Franny. Ron was born in Cleveland on July 9, 1943 and was a go-getter from the start. As a child he took an interest in magic, performing at neighborhood birthday parties and church functions. But in classic Ron fashion, he turned a hobby into an opportunity when he was hired at 12 years old to appear as a regular on the local Captain Penny kids' television show. A gig that would last over ten years! At Cleveland's John Adams High School Ron met the love of his life and future wife Kay. From there he attended John Carroll University, earning a degree in Communications. That interest inspired him to move his family to Columbus to pursue a copywriting career at the esteemed Byer & Bowman Advertising. At B&B he would soon become the youngest Vice President in the company's history. Then in 1975, he ventured out on his own, starting Ron Foth Advertising from the humble roots of the basement in their home. With hard work, tenacity and lots of creativity, Ron grew the agency into one of the top marketing firms in the region - and it's still thriving today. With an emphasis on powerful strategies, big ideas and great people, his proudest moment came recently when RFA was named a finalist as one of the city's "Best Places to Work." Ron was truly the American success story! In fact, in 2011 Ron was honored to accept the prestigious Silver Medal Lifetime Achievement Award from the Advertising Federation of Columbus. However with so many accomplishments, nothing brought him more joy than his family. This past July Ron and Kay celebrated 50 years of marriage. He was never prouder than when his two sons followed in his footsteps, joining the family business. And he couldn't get enough of his precious grandkids motivating their Papa to play hooky from work to play golf, go to games, make the world's best Root Beer floats and to just enjoy life with them. In the end, Ron graced us with his love, wit and generosity, and while our hearts will never be the same, it's comforting to know Heaven is his next journey. Friends may call at the RUTHERFORD-POWELL FUNERAL HOME, 450 West Olentangy Street on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Powell United Methodist Church on Friday September 18, 2015 at 10 a.m. with interment in Dublin Cemetery with Rev. My deepest condolences. As a little girl I loved having Cousin Ronnie as my Godfather. Although it has been awhile you never forget, the one that made you laugh at those scary family reunions.
God Bless all the family especially Kay and Marsha.

My deepest sympathy to Ron's Family. Ron and I graduated the same year from John Adams High School. I will always remember him playing his trumpet in the band. What a wonderful obituary. He was truly a great man and accomplished a lot in his lifetime. Rip, Ron. God bless.

Ron was the account executive from Byer & Bowman for Lazarus when I worked there and we were colleagues for many years after. He was a terrific, hard working, highly respected, fun loving ad man whom you could count on and he was an even better guy.
