Ruth E. Neff

NEFF Ruth E. Neff, age 83, of Circleville, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Pickaway Manor Care Center. She was born June 7, 1926 in Jackson Township, Pickaway County, daughter of the late Herbert and Ora (Dyke) Melvin. She was a member of the Circleville High School Class of 1944. Ruth spent much of her career as a Medical Technician in the offices of Drs. Griner, McCoy, Chrismer and Harris. She founded the Pickaway County D.A.R.E. Program and was an active member and chaired the Pickaway County Jail Committee. She was also a three term Pickaway County Commissioner. Of her many accomplishments, Ruth mostly enjoyed her family, she loved being in her country home, and enjoyed helping others-especially those who were down and out. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband George Neff in 1974, son Terry D. Neff in 2008, infant grandchild, sister Roma Troutman, brothers Stanley "Sport", Gerald "Joe", Walter "Nick", and Bob Melvin. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Sharon) Neff of Circleville; daughter-in-law, Teresa Neff of Circleville; grandchildren, Jeremy (Carly), Anthony (Karlyn), and Nicholas (Toni) Neff, Hillary (Ian) Webb; great-grandchildren, Ava, Maraya, Dylan, Brady and Sutten Neff; brother Ronald (Cleo) Melvin of Grove City; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 East Mound Street, Circleville with Pastor Don R. Bachman Jr. and Pastor Karen Martin Kepner officiating. Interment to follow at Jackson Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Friday in the Noecker Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church. Family requests memorial contributions to the Pickaway County D.A.R.E.
