Sidney K. Schafer

Schafer Sidney K. Schafer, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015. Born October 2, 1940 in Defiance, Ohio to Kenneth and Rebecca (Sidner) Weir. Survived by her husband, of 54 years, Bob; two daughters, Laura (Paul) Martin and Robyn (Scott) Curry; five granddaughters, Mallory, Porsche, Rylie, Meredith, Addison; four great-grandchildren, niece, Heather Schwartz (John); and great-nephew, Kurtis; beloved aunt and uncle, Ann and David Price; extended family, Craig and Carol Morton and family of Niceville, FL. Preceded in death by her parents, step-father Major C. Merrick, son David, and sister Leslie Morton. Sid graduated from West Jefferson H.S, class of 1958. She attended the Columbus Business College and was employed by the Shoe Corp of America until becoming a stay at home Mom. She was then employed by the Jefferson Local Schools and the middle school secretary for 25 years. Sidney was a member of the W. Jefferson American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered many hours at the V.A in Chillicothe. A member of the west Jefferson United Methodist Church, she was a master gardener, a member of the London D.A.R., Red hats, and Couver Society. She served on the city of London tree commission, was a volunteer with the Madison county probate court, loving care hospice, served of the board of the Madison county senior center and the education board. She was also active in the Republican Party. Friends may visit 3-7 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015at the RADER McDONALD TIDD FUNERAL HOME and 1 hour prior to service 10 a.m. on Saturday at West Jefferson United Methodist Church, 36 E. Center Street.
