Theodore Luckey Obituary

LUCKEY Theodore R. Luckey, Jr. On Friday, February 10, 2006 Theodore R. Luckey, Jr., beloved father, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a long illness. Theodore Roosevelt Luckey, Jr. was born September 4, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio to Theodore Roosevelt Luckey, Sr. and Mary Florence Carroll Luckey. The first of two sons born from this union, he excelled in high school sports, foreign languages, and debate; winning ribbons, letters and certificates because of his excellence. After high school, he answered the call to serve his country as a soldier in World War II. In the army, he was sent and served in the European Theater. Because of his facility for foreign languages, and although busy fighting a war, he learned to speak fluent Italian, adding to his already fluent knowledge of Latin and Spanish. He was an alumnus of The Ohio State University and a United Sates government employee of more than 30 years, including 20 years working for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). At HUD, he was promoted to manager of public housing and public housing managers regionally. Because of his vast knowledge of public and private housing development and maintenance, he was respected nationally, and was asked after his retirement from HUD to consult on public and private development. Theodore R. Luckey, Jr. is predeceased by his parents, Theodore R. Luckey, Sr. and Mary P. Luckey; and brother, Harold R. Luckey. He is sorley missed and survived by former wife, Evelyn P. Luckey; daughters, Jennifer A. Luckey and Carolyn S. Luckey; niece, Carol E.L. Luckey; nephew, Anthony Hodge; and numerous cousins and friends. Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2006 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St. Rev. Michael Bean, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary Friday 9 a.m. until the start of funeral service. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
