Thomas Hagley Obituary

Hagley Thomas Ryan Hagley, age 31, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away, Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Born June 17, 1985 in Columbus, Ohio, to Brad Hagley and Mary Wolski-McGovern. The guy with the fedora. The lover of finding serenity in nature, sunshine and solitude. The artist who didn't share his gift without leaving a mark on your heart. His passion was seen through his music with lyrics that touched souls around the world. To talk to him was to bond with an old soul. In his own words, "it's a long dark world you know that we all live in, and man it seems like, everybody's overdue for a change." Tom is preceded in death by his grandfathers Thomas Wolski and Carl Hagley. Tom is survived by his son, Khimera; fiancée, Brittany Simpson; parents, Brad (Valerie) Hagley and Mary (Mike) McGovern; sisters, Holly Hagley and Anna Hagley; grandmothers, Ruth Ann Hagley and Louise Wolski; numerous loving relatives and friends; and in spirt with his beloved dog, Damien. Family will receive friends Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 12 noon-4 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, where a service will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., with an hour of visitation prior. Interment to follow at Maplewood Cemetery, New Albany, Ohio. For details on the upcoming benefit being planned for April, continue following his Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Khimera Hagley Education fund, make checks payable to Khimera Hagley, and mail to, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230. "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." Friedrich Nietzsche

To Brad and the entire Hagley Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I feel your pain. I wish I could say something to make you feel better but there are no words. Please know that many people are praying for you and grieving with you. Tom was a very talented young man and I am sure he touched more lives than you will ever realize, through his personality and music. I know you were proud of him and always will be. I won't say I know how you feel because I don't. But I do know how I felt when our 30 year old daughter Katie died almost two years ago. She went to bed, had a seizure, and never woke up. No warning, no goodbyes. I felt like someone ripped my heart out. I was numb and couldn't understand how I could be numb and in so much pain at the same time. There is nothing worse than losing a child, nothing. Please feel my prayers and know that you are always in my thoughts through this devastating time. You have many good memories of Tom. Hold them in your hearts. I hope someday those memories will help you smile again.

We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Thomas's family. My husband and I met Thomas when he played his guitar and sang for our son Brian and Cristi's wedding. It was easy to see how much he was loved by family and friends. Music is the universal language loved and shared by all. What a wonderful way to share your love with other people. Our prayers are with your family and may God bring you comfort and peace.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Hagley/Simpson families, his extended family and friends. We are in shock and sadness. Today for the first time this year I was able to sit on the porch with open doors and had memories of the countless times Tom created musical magic there. The Delaware farm will miss him as will we. May we all keep the vitality and kindness alive that Tom exemplified every time he was here. Blessings and love to all. Kathy and Nathalie Hudina.
