William H. Gibson

GIBSON William H. Gibson, 52, of Ledge Hill Road, Tuftonboro, NH, died Monday, December 3, 2007, at his home with his family by his side, following a battle with cancer. Bill was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 8, 1955, to William H. and Miriam Sue (Masters) Gibson, Jr. He graduated from Upper Arlington, Class of 1973 and Ohio University in 1977 with a Bachelor's of Music degree. Bill began his teaching career in Ohio but in 1979 moved to New Hampshire and taught in the Conway School District. In 1987, he began a twenty-year career as Music Director at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro, NH. Bill was a great inspiration to many of his students while at Kingswood both as a teacher, mentor and friend. Bill had a certain way to make all students feel important in the department. In addition to teaching in the public school system, he taught at Plymouth State College, Plymouth, NH and served as adjunct professor of percussion. In 2007, he was named Distinguished Music Educator of the year by his peers in the State of New Hampshire. Bill shared his passion and love for life not only in the classroom but on the tennis court. He was the Kingswood Boy's Varsity Tennis Coach for 18 years and worked for the Wolfeboro Parks and Recreation Department as Tennis Director during that time. Bill was active in the State Music Educator's association and held various posts over the years including State Librarian and Historian. He also coached several Recreation teams in soccer, baseball and basketball. He always was willing to help out conducting the Cate Park Band in Wolfeboro during the summers. Most important to him was his family who he leaves behind, which include, Jill Daley-Gibson, his wife of 21 years, Tuftonboro, NH; and his sons, Michael Gibson, age 16 and Peter Gibson, age 13, both of Tuftonboro, NH; his parents, William H. and Miriam Sue (Masters) Gibson; a brother, Robert Gibson and his wife, Deborah, Dublin, OH; and his sisters, Ann (Gibson) Baird and her husband, Jeff of Lancaster, OH, and Jane (Gibson) Brown and her husband, Tim, Upper Arlington, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 6th from 5-8 p.m. at LORD FUNERAL HOME, RT 28, Wolfeboro, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 7, 2007, 10:30 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, RT 28, Alton, NH.
