Winfred Arthurs Obituary

ARTHURS Winfred C. (Bill) Arthurs, born September 6, 1920, Portsmouth, Ohio. Graduated Class 1938, Sciotoville High School and The Ohio State University, Class of 1944. Former News Director, WRFD, Worthington and staff announcer, WBNS, Columbus. Was Executive Secretary, Ohio Coal Conference and Executive Director, Ohio Association of Personnel Consultants. Life member Society of Professional Journalists, 50-year member, Humboldt Lodge, F.& A.M, Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus and Columbus Maennerchor. Preceded in death by parents, Winfred W. and Erma L. Arthurs, loving wives Jean Wanke-Arthurs and Barbara Wilson Arthurs. Survived by children, Winfred Corey Arthurs, Karen Arthurs, Noni Bretthauer (Ted), and Gregory (Be) McElwee; sisters, Joan Hoberg and Margaret Tallerico; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Tiffany (Tracy), Tommy (Nicole), Mitchell, Denise, Rachel, and Mandi; great-grandchildren, Alyson, T.J., Devon, Stacy; many close friends during the years. Friends may call THE SHAW-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME BEECHWOLD-CLINTONVILLE CHAPEL, 4341 N. High St., Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with evening Masonic service, where funeral service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. Interment Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Masonic Humboldt Lodge. I have enjoyed Bill's playing in the Dixieland Band for many years.

And got to know Bill much better when we were members in the same Jester Class in 1991. He was always ready with a smile and hand shake.

I will miss him.........Ron
