Beverly Corley

1926 - 2025

Beverly Cramer Corley passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Shearer Richardson Memorial Nursing Home in Okolona, at the age of 98. She was born in Oregon on December 6, 1926. Beverly moved from the West coast with her husband, Elbert, to Okolona, MS in 1944, where she dedicated her life to family, friends, and her many passions. She worked for many years as a switchboard operator for Futorian Furniture, however, her greatest joy came when she transitioned into the role of a devoted homemaker, fully embracing her responsibilities caring for her family. She was affectionately known as "Nana" by all of her grandchildren.

Beverly was a passionate football fan, cheering on her husband as he played for the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Colts football teams, and was a lifelong fan of Mississippi State football. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Okolona Country Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge, where she created lasting friendships around the card table. An excellent cook, Beverly delighted friends and family with her culinary skills, especially her Thanksgiving dinners. She loved to garden and found much joy tending to her flowers and vegetables.

Born into the Mormon faith in Oregon, she also found a welcoming spiritual home at the First United Methodist Church in Okolona, where she attended for many years.

Beverly is survived by her grandchildren, Mike Johnson (Christy) of Saltillo, MS, Jennifer Weaver (Lynn) of Raymond, MS, Ashely Marie Jean (C.J.) of San Antonio, TX, Tanner Hurtado of Englewood, CO; great-grandchildren, Chance Johnson and Mason Johnson of Saltillo, MS; and son-in-law Gill Hurtado of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her husband Elbert Ellis Corley on September 22, 1988; and her children, Melanie Corley Martin, Melinda "Lindy" Corley Hurtado, Candance "Candy" Corley, and Elbert Corley, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 2PM on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Boone's Chapel Cemetery in Okolona with Rev. Alan Hall officiating. Mt. Vernon Chapel is honored to be assisting the family during this time.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Weaver, Tanner Hurtado, Chance Johnson, Mason Johnson, Eddie Corley, and Jamie Darnell, Jr. .
