James Steven "Jim" Corley, 81, resident of Spartanburg, husband of Frances Ella Walker Corley, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.

Born May 30, 1944, in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Rev. William M. "Bill" Corley and Lillian Gantt Corley. Mr. Corley was a 1962 graduate of Denmark-Ola High School and a graduate of Aiken Technical College. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy veteran.

Mr. Corley retired from USC–Spartanburg, where he worked as a librarian, and was formerly employed with Hubbell Lighting of Aiken. He was a faithful member of Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of the home; two stepdaughters, Debbie Earley and Rhonda Painter (Doug), both of Spartanburg; a stepson, Allen Pace (Angel) of Inman; a brother, Bill Corley of North Augusta; two step-grandchildren, Amy and Stacey (Kyle); along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2026, at First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, with Rev. Mitch Edge and Rev. George Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Pallbearers will be Brannen Corley, Jason Corley, Todd Corley, Danny Fowler, Allen Pace, Jeffrey Griffin, and Hilton Dodgen.

Memorials may be made to Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church, 7400 Lone Oak Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC 29303, or Parkway Freewill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 160283, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
