Frances Herlong Floyd

1947 - 2026

Frances Herlong Floyd, 78, resident of McCormick and wife of Joseph Floyd, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at her home.

Born December 15, 1947, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late George Herlong and Thelma Hannah Anderson Herlong. Frances was a 1966 graduate of Greenwood High School, a 1970 graduate of Lander College where she earned her degree in education, and later received her master's degree from West Georgia University in Carrollton, Georgia. She retired from Greenwood Christian School and was formerly employed with Ninety Six High School and Vocational Rehabilitation.

Frances attended Buffalo Baptist Church and grew up as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Joseph Floyd; one daughter, Katherine Lovvorn (Jeremy) of Bradley; two sons, Scott Carter (Janet) of Senoia, Georgia, and Elliott Floyd of Clemson; one brother, Bill Herlong of Georgetown, South Carolina; one sister, Jean Cryder of Elberton, Georgia; three granddaughters, Hannah, Amelia, and Chloe Lovvorn; and many beloved first cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Martin Wiles and the Rev. David Evans officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at Blyth Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Lovvorn, Joe Johnson, Doug Britt, Jeremy Cryder, Jeffery Cryder, and Lucas Mitchell.

Memorials may be made to Buffalo Baptist Church or to the Humane Society of Greenwood.
