Martha Wiygul Obituary

Martha Katherine Green Wiygul, 92, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Green Houses at Cedars Healthcare Center in Tupelo. She was born March 17, 1933, to James William and Vashti Sandlin Green. She was a bookkeeper for Hancock Fabrics and Batesville Building Supply. Mrs. Martha was totally committed to her calling as a Methodist minister's wife and felt great joy in helping her husband serve and grow each church in which they ministered along the way. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and fishing, and her overwhelming passion was her family, especially her grandkids.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 21, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with the Rev. Rod Borders and the Rev. Bob Whiteside officiating. Burial will be in the Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy "Tim" Lee Wiygul (Sally) of Tupelo, and James Dorsey "Jay" Wiygul (Mary) of Ocean Springs; one brother, Barry Green of Peaceful Valley; nine grandchildren, Lauren Meredith, Dillon Moore, Jordon Moore, Chris Wiygul (Jenna), Katie Huey (Dustin), Carson Odom (Garrett), Sam Taylor (Tori), Foster Wiygul, and Alden Wiygul; four great-grandchildren, Harper and Hudson Wiygul, Sadie Huey, and Mills Odom.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, the Rev. Glyn Wiygul; one son, Ricky Wiygul; one grandson, Wesley Wiygul; one sister, Sue Green Montgomery; and one brother, Winford Green

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Charlie Mae Sunday School Class at Fulton United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.

As a part of my mom and dad’s close circle of ministry friends, Martha and Glyn were part of the Methodist “magic” that my brother Bill and I experienced as children. The regular gathering around the hamburger grill or the ice cream maker, the camping and houseboat trips, the annual conference and district picnics were a distinct part of shaping and forming us. Thank you, Martha, for being one of my Methodist mommas!
