Mary Gibbs Koon, 77, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 17, 2025, while surrounded by the love of her family and the comfort of North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice. She was born April 20, 1948, to Paul Gibbs, Sr., and Martha Sheffield Gibbs. She worked in the furniture industry, mainly in customer service, for over 40 years. She was a member of the Fulton United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included reading, cheering on the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and traveling with her family to the beach, the mountains, and everywhere in between. The pride of her life was being MaeMae to her grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 20, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with the Rev. Smith Lilley officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of over 50 years, Nelson Lloyd Koon; one son, David Ray Pressler (Julie) of Fulton; two daughters, Holly Koon Gray (Jim) of Fulton and Laura Richardson (Zac) of Hartselle, AL; one sister, Martha Lewis Gibbs Curlee (Mac) of Tupelo; seven grandchildren, Casey Rae Pressler (John Starlin), Mary Vosika, Jack Vosika, Jacob Gray, John Ryan Richardson, Dylan Richardson, and Cara Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Paul Gibbs, Jr.; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Gibbs, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Sheffield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, and from noon until service time Friday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.

Jay and I send our love and condolences to all the family. I really enjoyed the times I got to reconnect with Mary after we married and moved away. I will remember her for her candor, honesty, very generous heart, and funny way she addressed me as Frankie Ann.
