Robert Strickland Obituary

RED BAY, Ala. – Robert Elmer Strickland, 46, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, in Savannah, Tenn. He was born June 19, 1967, in Red Bay to Norris and Catherine Darcy Strickland. He was a water treatment specialist for 20 years. He was formerly employed at Tecumseh Products in Verona, Nashville Chemical with Cooper Tire. He was currently employed by Big M Transportation in Blue Mountain. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a member of Banner Church of God of Prophecy.
Services will be Thursday, May 8, 2 p.m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Tupelo with the Rev. Paul Stephens and the Rev. Stanford Adams officiating. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., assisted the family.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Kelton Strickland of Red Bay; five children, Elaina, Duncan (Sue Ellen), Kelly, Sophia and Ronald, all of Red Bay; grandchildren, Bryant, Athena, Caleb and Jase; his mother, Catherine Darcy Strickland; siblings, William Strickland, Cathy Carter (Kenny), Mary Boyle (Tim), Margaret Vanlandingham (Wayne), Barbara Thorn, Douglas Strickland and Deborah Orrick (John); 12 nieces; 13 nephews; and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Leonard Strickland; and his grandparents, Elmer and Katherine Puddington, and Clinton and Flora Strickland.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Banner Church of God of Prophecy.
His daughter Kelly stated: ""My dad was compassionate, loving, humorous, motivating and an overall awesome father."" His son Duncan stated: ""My father, Robert E. Strickland, forever loved, a true man of character and personality. In the midst of it all my dad was the best and an even better friend."" Daughter Elaina stated: ""Thank you, Daddy, my father, my confidante, my comfort and my friend.""
