Bernard Knight Obituary

Bernard Taft Knight Bernard Taft "Buddy" Knight, resident of Ashford passed away Sunday morning at the age of 66 . Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M.Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Enterprise Baptist Church with Brother David Baker officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Ashford City Cemetary, Ashford Al. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Ward Wilson Funeral home. Pall Bearers will be Jackie Hughes, Joe Freeman, Ronnie Shelley, Bobby Sowell, Glen Pate, Nathan Worsham. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Jasper Best, Frazier Rhodes, Wyatt Barnhart, Tom Shirley, the Ashford Dominoe Group, Members of Ashford Masonic Lodge 493. He was born October 5,1944. He was of Baptist faith. He lived and raised his family in Ashford. A devoted husband to Linda Knight and wonderful father to his four children. Buddy owned and operated Buddy's Paint and Body Shop and wrecker services for 40 years. He devoted his time and service to the Ashford Rescue Squad for many years. A member of the Ashford Masonic Lodge 493 for 45 years . Buddy was preceded in death by both parents, M.L. and Merle Knight, brother, Billy Robert Knight, sister-in-law, Arlene Knight, and grandchildren, Brandon, Katie and John Kasey Knight. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Linda Knight, brother, Chuck Knight, sister-in-law, Mary Knight, son, Don Alan Knight (Wendy), daughters, Tammy Adams (Tracy) Tonya Mercer (Stacey) Teresa Harper (Jason). brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Sheila Gresham, Grandchildren, Brittney Stewart, Abbey Knight, Chelsea Adams, Courtney Adams, Deanna Welch, Jeffery Kelley, Matthew Harper, and a large family of nieces and nephews. Buddy enjoyed his familyhe loved to cook a "goulash" , pork chops and suckers and invite his friends and family to come and eat. His favorite pastimes were drinking coffee and catching up on the news at Broadway caf‚, playing dominoes with his friend, and fishing with his wife on the pontoon boat. Buddy enjoyed singing Gospel Music in a quartet. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Flowers will be accepted. I'm so very sorry to hear about Buddy's death. I wasn't aware he had passed until after the funeral. He was a very big part of Ashford, AL and he will be missed by all of us who knew him and called him "a friend". We will sure be praying for all the family. A good man has left us all.
