Kathy Kirkland Obituary
Kathy Lynn Kirkland, age 62, of Foley, AL, passed away on February 16, 2024. Kathy was a fiercely intelligent, warm, kind, and compassionate woman who touched the lives of everyone she knew. She was known for her generosity, loyalty, and deep love for her family and friends.
Kathy is survived by Brenda & Jim Swittenburg, sister & brother-in-law; Jeffrey Kirkland, brother; Valerie Peterson, niece; John Cain, Jr., nephew; Hope Kirkland, niece; and Dylan Kirkland, nephew. She was preceded in death by Bernize Johnson Riley, her mother, and Rex Lee Kirkland, her father.
Kathy began her Civil Service career at the Department of Labor in Dallas, TX, before moving to Atlanta, GA, to work at the Centers for Disease Control until her retirement in 2016. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, reading, watching movies, visiting close friends across the country, and being with her two beloved cats.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 1:00 pm at The Solarium, 319 W. Hill St., Decatur, GA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Stray Love Foundation, Magnolia Springs, AL, straylovefoundation.org.
Rest in peace, Kathy Lynn Kirkland. You will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you.

We met Kathy thru her sister and our sister-in-law, Brenda. Kathy was a witty, funny, fun, smart, and tell it like it is woman who loved her family and friends. She doted on her nieces and nephew and would do anything to help them. She adored her sister and you could see her love for Brenda. It was a wonderful relationship. We loved hearing the stories of her many travels with friends. She was a joy to be around, and will be greatly missed. Prayers for strength and peace for her family and friends.
