My son Kurt attended mikes pitchers training camp after an arm injury, and went on to play college ball- what he learned from mike was mind boggling, the man was truely the most astute knowledgeable caring kind and a genius of physiology. I had the pleasure of watching him play, met him at the camp a few times, conversed with him on his website and learned so much- I'm saddened by his passing, he was a legend, eccentric perhaps but way ahead of his time- prayers for his family- rip iron mike

I am proud to say that I called Mike Marshall's pitches when he played in the men's adult league in Clearwater. I remember my trainer telling me that I've never seen pitches like I'm going to see now. He was dropped off in centerfield by a helicopter that picked him up after he pitched his four innings. Every parent who is serious about bringing up their kid as a pitcher sent them to him to train. He was just as serious about his pitching in the men's league as he was when he was in the pro's. The only Cy Young Award winner that I was privileged to call pitches for. Thank you Mike. Rest in peace

To the family, many, many friends, and fans of this great person who was an MLB pitcher who was the first relief pitcher to win the Cy Young Award. He started his career pitching for the Detroit Tigers and nine other teams. He had a wonderful career in baseball. May you find comfort in your wealth of fond memories together with Mike Marshall. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Mike. We will never forget that he was named an All-Star in 1974 and 1975.

My hand is just about healed from catching your throws from third to my mitt at first base and that was almost 70 years ago. RIP, Mike! PS. My brother Mike was a Phys Ed student at MSU.

I played touch football with him as our team captain, fall 1961, MSU. He was a very good quarterback for us, threw a beautiful spiral pass. Soft-spoken as I remember. Good guy.

Played American Legion baseball with Mike in our home town of Adrian, Michigan. He always had an amazingly strong arm. When he threw a baseball from SS or pitching you could hear it coming. For those who knew him he was his own man, one of a kind. Sorry to lose him. Prayers and condolences to his family

Mike, thanks for giving your all to baseball. You were an incredible pitcher that all Major League Teams will remember for your work ethic and ability to shutdown opponents in the late innings.

Mike Marshall was a cog in the Pennant Winning Season of '74, if he wasn't a Ironman the Dodgers would not of made the climb against Mr October and Catfish and the eventual World Champion A's.

Mike was an iconoclastic and unique character in the world of baseball, especially with regard to the art of pitching and it's physical/technical applications. Truly an outspoken independent thinker and presence. Can't say that I always agreed with his theories and opinions, but he was always interesting. I lived in LA for most of the '70s, and his brilliant workhorse season in '74 was legendary.
Rest in peace, Mike. Your views and outlook on the Grand Old Game will be considered and argued about well into the future, as will your noteworthy pitching career.
