Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Ellis E. Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.
Mr. Bowman was a native of Dale County, son of the late Alfred Bowman and Lounette Hartzog Bowman. He lived in the Headland area for several years before moving to Geneva County in 2002. Mr. Bowman served in the U.S. Army during the 1950's and was a member of New Providence Baptist Church in Rehobeth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Farmer Bowman, a sister, Hazel Covington, and two brothers, Mutt Bowman and George Bowman.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Judy Cartwright, Dothan, Amanda Curry and husband, Kenneth Curry, Taylor, Peggy Thompson and husband, Ben Thompson, Dothan; a son, Wade Bowman, Dothan; a sister, Catheline Chandler, Midland City; four brothers, Cleve Bowman, Dothan, Jimmy Bowman and wife, Sue Bowman, Midland City, Johnny Bowman and wife, Jean Bowman, Kinsey, Levy Bowman and wife, Nina Sue Bowman, Midland City; a sister-in-law, Nellie Bowman; seven grandchildren, Steven Long, Mark Cartwright, Kailey Cartwright, Jessica Curry, Kelsey Curry, Sarah Thompson and Thomas Thompson; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ben Thompson, Kenneth Curry, Steven Long, Johnny Bowman, Mark Cartwright and Adam Jahn.
