Funeral services for Mr. Ray William Methvin, age 76, of Eufaula were held at 10 A.M., Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 1st Assembly of God Church in Eufaula. Rev. Tony Willis officiated and burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Mr. Methvin died Saturday, January 14, at the Noland Hospital in Dothan after a lengthy illness. Born December 31, 1940 in Savannah, GA, Mr. Ray was the son of the late James Thomas and Mattie Elizabeth James Methvin. He had lived in Eufaula since 1944 and was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church. Mr. Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting, birdwatching, and the "Coffee Club" at McDonalds. Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Vivian Tetro; three brothers, Jerry Methvin, James Thomas Methvin and Joseph Milton Methvin and a son-in-law, Dennis Lee. Survivors include his wife, Jewel B. Methvin, Eufaula; a son and daughter-in-law, Damon Bruce and Betty Jo Methvin, Eufaula; four daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda P. and Tony Grecco, Tullahoma, TN, Lisha and Victor Gonzalez, Pasadena, CA, Sue Ellen and Greg Cawley, Cabot, AK, and Kathy and Randall Chancey, Phenix City, AL; two brothers, John Bennett and Ruby Methvin, Eufaula and Kenneth Kelly and Teenie Methvin, Tallahassee, FL; 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, his church family, McDonalds family and a close friend, Don Taapken. Asked to serve as pallbearers were: Bruce Methvin, Tony Grecco, Victor Gonzalez, Greg Cawley, Daniel Myers, Ricky McGilvary, Brent Daingerfield, and Benny Whitehead. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers were: Don Taapken, Bobby DeRome, and the McDonald's Coffee Club.
