Willie Butler (Brother Willie), 77, of Grand Ridge went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Brother Willie was born on November 30, 1937 in Houston County, AL. He graduated from Rehobeth High School in Dothan, AL and the Baptist Bible Institute (Baptist College of Florida) in Graceville, FL. He retired in 2003 after a ministry of 13 years at Providence Baptist Church in Grand Ridge. He also served as Worship and Youth Minister at the First Baptist Church in Panama City Beach, FL, Calvary Baptist Church in Augusta, GA and Sugar Hill Baptist Church in Sugar Hill, GA. He was an avid fisherman and was also known as a "fisher of men". Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jo Ann Butler of Grand Ridge; two daughters, Sandy Yelverton and husband, John of Oakwood, GA and Amy Lindsey of Panama City, FL; five grandchildren, Jennifer Jones and husband, Bill of Flowery Branch, GA, Jaime Moore and husband, Jason of Braselton, GA, Spencer Butler of Victoria, TX, Sylvia and Sadonia Toole of Compass Lake, FL; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Butler and wife, Carolyn of Dothan, AL; two sisters, Barbara Turvin of Dothan, AL, Edna Weeks and husband, Donald of Geneva, AL; one brother-in-law, Danny McNeal and wife, Joyce of Dothan, AL. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at Providence Baptist Church in Grand Ridge with Rev. Charles Kleiser and Mr. John Yelverton officiating. Interment will follow at Dykes Cemetery in Grand Ridge with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Providence Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Providence Baptist Church, 6940 Providence Church Road, Grand Ridge, FL. 32442.
