Beverly Pyne Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the peaceful passing of Beverly S. Pyne, most recently of Bristol, and previously of Tiverton.

Bev was the daughter of Leon and Carolyn Johnson, and was raised in Melrose, MA. She earned her Associate's Degree at Burdett Junior College and worked as a secretary in Boston. In 1960, she married her life long love, Robert J. Pyne, and they moved to Foxboro, MA. They soon welcomed children Lucinda, Robert Christopher, and Pamela.

In addition to lovingly raising three children and managing the family home, Bev was creative and was always motivated to learn new skills. She was an accomplished cook, avid gardener, animal lover, and a voracious reader. Always active and fit, she played tennis, practiced yoga, skied, hiked, sailed and enjoyed her trips abroad. Throughout her life, she delighted in spending time at the family 'camp' in Camden, ME with family and friends.

In 1972, the family moved to Tiverton, and Bev soon found new outlets for her energy and entrepreneurship. She taught yoga and meditation in her home. She co-founded Tiverton Pre-School, which was the first of its kind in town. Later, she taught aerobics classes for many years.

Bev was an involved and supportive Mom, wife and friend. She and Bob made a group of Tiverton friends who remained close throughout their lives. When Bob became ill in late 1998, Bev skillfully nursed and lovingly cared for him at home until his death in August 2000.

Among Bev's many occupations over the years, she worked at Walker's Roadside Stand, Sakonnet Vineyard, and Tiverton Eye Care. Community activities included the Tiverton Garden Club, Young Women's Community Club, Greater Tiverton Community Chorus and Amicable Church choir. Bev was a valued member of the team at Blithewold Manor in Bristol for over 20 years, giving tours of the home and gardens, working in the gift shop, acting as a welcoming ambassador to visitors, and making many friends.

Bev moved to Bristol in 2014, greatly enjoying her new neighbors, and living happily for the remainder of her life.

Bev was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Robert J. Pyne, as well as her brother David Johnson and sister Brenda Burman. She is survived by her daughter Lucinda Pyne and her husband Kevin Piccone of Portland, ME; son R. Christopher Pyne and his wife Judith of Tiverton; daughter Pamela McDorr and husband Thomas of Tiverton; and beloved grandsons Finnian McDorr and Camden Pyne, and granddaughters Whitney and Zoe McDorr. She also

leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews and their spouses and children.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Your memories of Bev are welcome at https://www.memorialfuneralhome.com/obituaries/beverly-pyne . In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bev's name to your local PBS station, or the National Audubon Society.

I met Bev at Blithewold when she was a volunteer. We both went on to work for Visitors´ Services there and as Tour Guides. When she moved to my neighborhood in Bristol we shared many happy times together. She will be missed.
Condolences to her family.
