Anita Chiljan Obituary

Anita Chiljan Resident of Alamo Born Anita Sonia Sarkisian on June 10, 1934 and died peacefully at home in her loving husband's arms on December 13, 2010. Anita was born in Chicago, IL and moved to Los Angeles at age nine. She and her husband Ray raised their family in Northridge, CA; they followed their three daughters to the Bay Area, where they resided for the past 15 years in Alamo. She and her husband were married 53 years before she succumbed to Alzheimer's. Anita was a collector of Chinese antiques, was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing the piano and doing crossword puzzles (always in pen). She and her husband traveled the world, but she especially enjoyed vacationing in Palm Desert with the mountains and palm trees. She is survived by her husband Ray, daughters Rhonda Chiljan, Katherine Chiljan, and Kristine DiTano, son-in-law Marco, grandchildren Drew and Luca DiTano, brother, Edward Sarkisian, and her sister-in-laws Frances Stevens, Diane Paskerian and Debbie Sarkisian. She will join her beloved parents Charles and Victoria Sarkisian and older brother Armen, who predeceased her. Memorial services will be held at St. Vartan's Armenian Church, Oakland, Sunday, December 19th, at 3 pm. Reception will follow Round Hill Country Club, Alamo.

I met Anita more than fifty years ago, and have always had a great fondness for her. Many good memories of times spent together with her, Ray and their beautiful daughters. She was one of the kindness persons I've ever known. My love and thoughts to her family.
