Willie Pearl Nelms

Willie Pearl Jones Nelms, 76, of St. Petersburg, Fla., passed in Lakeland, Fla., on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church, with burial in Groover Cemetery. Viewing is from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday at Tillman of Monticello, (850) 997-5553. A native of Monticello, Mrs. Nelms was a 1965 graduate of Howard Academy High School. She had lived in St. Petersburg for more than 55 years. Before retiring, she had been a Team Lead (Supervisor) with Johnson Controls for more than 30 years. Survivors include her daughter, LaTonya Nelms; grandchildren, CC and Quemond Nelms, Sr., O'Shea and O'Shan Coleman and O'Niyah McKeever; great-grandchildren, Olaijuwan Coleman, Quemond Jr. and Quadir Nelms; brothers, Fred and Titus Jones; sister, Claretha Smiley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
