Ibrahim Ahmed Ismail Sr., 77, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his home in Osceola, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family.
Ibrahim was born on July 3, 1947, in Magburaka, Sierra Leone, to the late Abdul Fattah Ismail and Zam Zam Sheriff Sesay. He has lived most of his life in the Michiana area.
Ibrahim retired from Bayer Corp. as the Director of New Product Development. He was a devoted employee at Bayer for 23 years and had developed several patents throughout the years. He was a determined, gracious spirit.
Ibrahim is survived by his companion with whom he made his home, Mary Beth Kozak of Osceola, Indiana; he had three sons with his former wife, Fatmata Kouyateh Ismail; Abdul Ismail of Greenbelt, Maryland, Saleem Ismail of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Ibrahim and Lena Ismail Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; and two grandchildren, Jayden and Sophia Kozak.
Ibrahim is also survived by Robynn Kozak, Stephanie Kozak, Bernard Stanley, Isatou Ismail Sesay, Hassan Sesay, Abu Bakarr Jabbie, several nieces and nephews, a whole host of extended family, colleagues, and friends who both loved and embraced him.
Ibrahim loved to play golf. He was the President of the Michiana Senior Golf Association and was also on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football, baseball and basketball. He and Mary Beth especially enjoyed going to Notre Dame women's basketball games as long-time season ticket holders. He was also a devoted fan of both Notre Dame and Ohio State football.
Private services will take place and he will be interred at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. There will be a celebration of his life in July, date and time to be announced. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ibrahim Ismail Sr. may be donated to Caring Cove Hospice, 3120 N.
