Linda Pardue Obituary

Linda Wood Pardue

Born: October 11, 1942 | Died: August 15, 2025

Linda Wood Pardue, 82, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, with her family by her side. Born to the late Julian Chamberlain and Doris Wood, Linda grew up in Jonesville, North Carolina, where her bright spirit and enthusiasm shone early on as an A+ student and cheerleader at Jonesville High School. She carried that same energy into every stage of her life. In her young adult years, she spent time in Blacksburg, Virginia, supporting her beloved husband, Howard, while he attended VPI and played basketball. Those years made her a lifelong Hokies fan, and she never missed a chance to cheer on Virginia Tech.

Faith was at the center of Linda's life. She was especially proud to serve as a Deacon at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, where she shared her compassion and kindness with others. Her church family was very dear to her, and she found great joy in being part of that community. One of her favorite scriptures was Galatians 5:22-23. The fruits of the Spirit in this verse: "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" reflected Linda's many qualities and the way she wanted to live her life each day.

Linda also loved sports, along with her Virginia Tech Hokies, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Whether it was a big game in Blacksburg or watching the Dodgers from home, she cheered with true passion - always loyal to her teams.

Professionally, Linda had a successful career as a legal and paralegal assistant at prominent law firms in Winston-Salem, NC. Later in her career, she served as Project Director for the prestigious Claremont Consortium of Colleges in Claremont, CA.

Far more than anything, Linda deeply loved her family. She is survived by and was a devoted wife to Howard Pardue for 63 years, a loving mother to her children, Mark ( Tina) and Lori Layton (Steve), and the proud "Gran" to her grandsons, Jack and Charlie Pardue. She is also survived by her brothers Van Wood (Penny) and Tim Wood; and her sister Denise Wood.

She was happiest making memories with her children and grandchildren - sneaking into the closet to share candy with her grandsons, making sure their Christmas stockings were always overflowing, or simple pleasures like getting her nails done with her daughter, Lori. She adored her family and treasured every moment she spent with them.

Linda will be remembered for her humor, faith, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She was a beacon of light, and her brightness and warmth filled every room. Her generous spirit was felt by many. She left a legacy of kindness, and her light will shine on.

The family will honor Linda with a Celebration of Her Life at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, on September 26th at 11 a.m. PDT. 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson, NV 89074. The family welcomes flowers, and memorial contributions may also be made to Green Valley Presbyterian Church or to a charity close to your heart.
