Joseph Colavecchia Obituary

Joseph Colavecchia
Ellwood City - Joseph Colavecchia, 83, of Ellwood City, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born on February 5, 1938 in the Village of Limosano, in the Province of Campobasso in the southern Italian region Molise he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine Giancola Colavecchia. He married the former beautiful Susan Razzano on June 29, 1963 and they shared fifty-five years together until she preceded him in death on May 1, 2019. Joseph retired from B&W in Beaver Falls where he worked in the cold draw. A member of Holy Redeemer Parish and the Ellwood City S.O.I. Lodge 608, Joseph enjoyed landscaping and gardening. He was also a die-hard Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
Joseph is survived by his children, Frank (Melissa) Colavecchia of Canonsburg, PA, Bruno Colavecchia of Bethesda, MD, Giuseppina "Pina" (David) Ciccone of Hopewell Township and Joseph, Jr. (Lindsey) Colavecchia of Keller, TX, seven grandchildren; Rocco, Joey, Gino, Marco and Angelo Colavecchia, Nicholas (Chalina) Ciccone and Santino Ciccone, 2 great-grandsons, Nico and Rocky and Baby Luca on the way, 3 sisters, Iolanda Chiocchio, Mafalda Carbonara and Cristina (Mario) Postiglione and a brother, Vincenzo (Teresa) Colavecchia, all of Toronto, Canada.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Joseph was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Raffaele Chiocchio and Antonio Carbonara.
Friends and family will be received viewing on Thursday, May 6th from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Philip Farrell. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Joseph's family would like to thank his dear nephews, the D'Addio's and next door neighbor the Brown's for their continuous love and support. They would also like to acknowledge the actions of a kind neighbor who saved their father's life in February of this year. A neighbor out walking his dog in the early morning hours heard Joseph's cries for help when he became disoriented and had gone outside in the snow. The actions of this man and a neighbor who took him into his home to await medical attention saved his life. His family is forever grateful for the kindness of these people. In Joseph's memory and in the spirit of kindness, his family asks that you perform a random act of kindness for someone. You just never know how much a small gesture will be appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made, if desired, in Joseph's name to Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Rd., Cabot, PA 16023.

To the family of Joseph Colavecchia, several years ago I owned Marco’s Pizza and you Dad would come in and get pizza, he was the sweetest guy ever. We sold the shop and didn’t see him for several years. I ran into him outside Giant Eagle and he told me he lost his wife. I was so sorry to hear that and he was so sad. My heart broke for him. I want to give you all my condolence. He truly was a great guy. I would of come to the funeral home but just saw this.
