EUSEBIO ORTIZ-ORTIZ Obituary

Eusebio "Chepo" Ortiz-Ortiz, 84, passed away on Saturday, September 30 after battling cancer. Chepo was born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico on December 15th, 1932. In April of 1953, he was drafted to the US Army and served his country proudly for 26 years. He married Fredesvinda Mayoral in 1958. During his time in the service, he served at Army bases around the world before retiring in 1979 as a First Sergeant. After 26 years in the Army, Chepo began his work in civil service with the MWR program at Ft. Bliss where he touched the lives of countless soldiers. After his second retirement, he continued to give to the Army community by volunteering at the VA clinic where he amassed six thousand hours of service. He leaves behind his wife of nearly sixty years, Fredy; children Marta, Vivian, David; grandchildren Natalia, Ginaelisa, Anthony, Jorge, and Javier; great-grandson, Lucas; nieces, nephew, cousins and the many friends who became family. Throughout his life, his family was priority. As his family grew older, he pushed for la familia Ortiz to stay connected. That connection is what brings us comfort now. We are grateful to have been loved by such a generous man. Not only did his generosity grant us full and happy lives, it grew our family to include neighbors, poker buddies, and fellow veterans. We would like to thank Dr. Quirarte, Dr. Gomez, Dr. Gupta and all the staff at Texas Oncology, El Paso Home Health, and Hospice of El Paso, beloved friends Irene, Song, Mr. Z, Dorothy and Carlos, Cousin Raquel and grandsons for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society, the ConPRmetidos hurricane relief, donate blood or register for the Be A Match Bone Marrow registry. Visitation: 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Celebration of Life at 6:00pm Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service 11:00am on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Please visit our online registry book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
