Steven Saenz Obituary

STEVEN SAENZ passed away in Ruidoso, NM on January 21, 2009 at the untimely age of 48. Born in El Paso, TX on May 20, 1960, he was proud of his Tigua and Mexican ancestry. He is survived by his loving sons Steven Ray (fiancé Maria) and Shane; parents Ruben and Francisca; sisters Leticia (husband Terry) and Debbie (husband John) and brother Ruben II (wife Louise) and many family and friends. Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Old Mission. Mr. and Mrs. Saenz and Family,
I am sorry I was not able to pay my last respects to such a wonderful person. Steven will always be remembered as the kind, gentle man and loving son and father that he was. His new journey has now begun and he is dancing with our grandfathers. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

To the family:
Though I don't know any of you, I know there must be a tremendous feeling of loss because Steve was such a wonderful person. Like many, I knew Steve from Speaking Rock; he was always the same, warm, kind, and yet professional on his job. I recently saw him in Ruidoso where as soon as he saw me, he had that same warm smile. His passing came as such a shock and I must admit, tears were shed because he simply was that type of person whom you didn't need to see often to appreciate him whenever you did. I will truly miss him. May he rest in peace. God Bless the family and particularly his sons!

Our condolences to Steve's family. We knew Steve from the Tigua Reservation and he was an easy going gentleman. He was a very likeable person. Steve always had a great heart and with that came his sense of humor. We got to work with him at Casino Apache and then we left to work at Casino Arizona, we tried to convince him to move to Arizona. He told us he didn't want to be too far from his sons. That was the kind of person he was, a caring person. May the Great Spirit guide him on his journey.

Steve always had a smile for us, and we were shocked to hear the news. He will now be one of God's Angels protecting those he left behind. I will forever cherish the earrings he made for me and the friendship he shared with my husband. May he rest in peace.

To Steve's Sons & Family,
Your father was a very funny but serious person. I worked with him at both casinos, in which he was always singing the song "Drops of Jupiter" by Train. Thanks to him, myself & two dear friends got to go to New Orleans & invited several of us for a non lonely Thanksgiving in Ruisdoso when we were away from our families. Steve was an awesome boss & friend! He is now an angel looking over you boys! My prayers are with you and Steve's soul!
