Charles Papin Obituary
Charles, son of the late Almah Lawrence Papin and wife Mary, nee Krodinger, was born Dec. 31, 1922, in St. Louis. He was united in marriage to Doris Faye Moureau June 9, 1943, and was blessed to have five children.
Charles was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, St. Clair. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Leo Steck Chapter 4667. Charles owned and operated Papin Builders Inc., a residential construction company, retiring after 60 years. He was a craftsman when it came to working with wood, and even made the cabinetry for the homes he built. He also raised cattle and hay for most of his life. He enjoyed many hobbies and interests during his life, and liked playing cards with his friends, especially bridge. For many years, he and his wife enjoyed square dancing in a square dance club in Pacific. Charles was an active man who liked to work and was always busy. Nothing made him happier than the time spent with his family, and many precious memories were created.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Faye Papin; one son, Douglas Papin; parents, Almah Lawrence and Mary Papin; one brother, Lawrence Papin; and one sister, Evelyn Oliver.
He is survived by three sons, C. Gary Papin and wife Velma, C. Gregory Papin and wife Eileen, all of St. Clair, and Kevin Papin and wife Carole, Maplewood; one daughter, Sandra Papin, Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Edwin Papin and wife Melody, St. Clair; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, lead by the Knights of Columbus, St. Clair.
A funeral Mass was held at noon Thursday, Jan. 16, at St. Clare Catholic Church, with Father Bob Knight officiating.
Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Louis.
In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
The Papin family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
