Janet Mathews Obituary
She was born May 21 1956 in Erie, a daughter of Robert and June (Rogers) Mathews of Girard,
Janet graduated from the Girard High School in 1974. Following high school she attended and graduated from J.H. Thompson Beauty Academy. She later worked at Lake City Industries and also was Manager of the Dairy Mart in Fairview for many years. Most recently she had been employed by CVS Pharmacy in Erie.
Janet enjoyed baking and making crafts with her nieces and nephews, collecting beach glass, and especially traveling and road trips with her mom and sisters.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Whitaker III in 2002.
In addition to her parents she is survived by two sisters, Kathleen Swanseger (Daniel) of Erie, Alicia A. Frey (John) of Millcreek; a sister in law, Sue Whitaker of Lake City; nephews, Jason R. Lesh (Chastity) of W. Springfield; nieces, Anne E. Rendine (Jared) of Pittsburgh, Dr. Katherine R. Whitaker (Beau Monnot) of Niceville, FL., and Leah M. Benefield (Chris) of Surf City, NC; great nieces, Kara Norman, Cassandra Smith and Lilian Lesh; great nephews, Tyler Curtis and Preston Benefield; her Godchildren, Jason R. Lesh, Dr. Katherine R. Whitaker and Cameron Robie-Grieshaber and a close friend, Brian Brissey of Erie.
Friends may call on Saturday from 3 p.m. to the time of a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
