Peggy Ferguson Obituary

Peggy Steele Ferguson
July 26, 1947 – Jan. 25, 2023
Peggy Steele Ferguson was born to Joseph and Dorothy Farney on July 26, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and passed away on Jan. 25, 2023. She was the youngest of their three children. She lived most of her young life in Tulsa. She graduated from McClain High School in Tulsa and married William Farris. They had a child, Diana, in 1966. They divorced, and she later married Gene Steele.
Gene and Peggy moved to Eufaula in the late '70s after Gene retired from the Tulsa Fire Department. They first lived in Indian Springs but later made their home on Texanna Road, where they opened and ran Gene's Lawnmower Shop for several years. Afterward, they remained in the Texanna Road area, built a home in Bridgeport Estates, and later moved to Shirley's Oaks.
Peggy worked at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Eufaula. They were one of the first members of North Fork Baptist Church.
Gene and Peggy spent 30 adventurous years together until he passed away in 1998. Peggy then moved from Eufaula back to Tulsa, where she met the last man she fell in love with, Ed. Peggy married Edward Ferguson in 2007 and spent the last 15 wonderful years together.
Peggy and Ed had a ball teaching country and western dance lessons and working on projects together. Peggy did custodial work before retiring a few years back. She loved (and was quite good at) dancing, gardening and cooking.
She was very talented and had a great vision for creating and building spaces and places. She loved her family beyond measure and absolutely loved spending time with them; it was this that brought her the most joy.
She was a loving friend to all and had an incredibly huge, giving heart.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Ferguson, of the home; her daughter Diana (Steele) Goodwin; her son-in-law Mark Goodwin of Eufaula, Okla.; her oldest granddaughter Rachel (Goodwin) Bronsert, and her husband, Jeremiah Bronsert of Big Sur, Calif.; her youngest granddaughter, Kelsey (Goodwin) Criner, and her husband, Kamiron Criner of Eufaula, Okla.; and their children (and her only great-grandchildren), Grayson and Khloe. She also leaves behind many other family members and many, many friends.
In Heaven, she will be joining her former husband, Gene Steele; her parents, Joe and Dorothy Farney; her sister, Kathy King; her brother Charles Farney; her sister-in-law and best friend, Judy Steele and a special niece, Vicky Bowlin; and her other sisters-in-law, Ruby Hogle, and Lille Mae McMurtrey.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. We still talk about the good times we had with all of you when we would play music and cards on Friday evenings
