Gregory J. Smith "Greg", 53, of New Oxford, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 5, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Crystal R. (Arndt) Smith, his wife of 33 years.
Greg was born April 11, 1961, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Joseph Walter and Norma Jean (Hull) Smith.
Greg was a devoted and dedicated husband and father, a member of Cross Keys Fellowship Church in New Oxford, a former active member of New Oxford Volunteer Fire Co. #13, served on the Parks and Recreation Committee in Hamilton Twp., an avid runner who participated in local 5K runs and marathons. Greg was employed for over 35 years with Timbar Packaging and Display Co (Oxford Division).

Memories and Condolences
for Gregory Smith

Not sure what to say?

March 22, 2015

Over the death of Greg I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to Crystal, my sister; Greg & Crystal's children, my nephew & niece and their spouses, Ben & Mandy and Emily & Dan; Greg's brothers, Craig & Gary, and their families.

Knowing Greg & remembering the man he was I consider his qualities & personality traits. He was an honest man; he was witty (I so miss his humor and smile); he was kind, thoughtful, and considerate of others. He was selfless. Greg always put others needs and wishes ahead of his own. He was very compassionate; I remember his devotion to Norma, his mother, during her own battle with cancer and how he stood by Crystal's & my mother during Mom's illnesses. And of course Greg exemplified humility.

But to me the quality or attribute of Greg that makes him really standout is loyalty. I rarely hear anyone speak of anyone's loyalty anymore. Greg was loyal to his loves and beliefs. He never engaged in or appreciated gossip. He was loyal to his church, to his friends, family & coworkers but above all and from my perspective Greg was loyal to our Lord and my sister, Crystal.

Personally, the highest honor I can pay a man is to say, Greg was the kind of man you would want to have your daughter or, in my case, your baby sister to marry.

Miss you Gregie & love you forever,
Delores
