Kenneth Pyles Obituary

Kenneth D. Pyles, 47, of Littlestown, entered into God's eternal care on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at his home. Born Nov. 20, 1956, in Gettysburg, he was the son of Dora Mae Snyder Hartman of Gettysburg, the late Robert W. Pyles and his late stepfather, Ivan Hartman. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Gettysburg; a 1975 graduate of Gettysburg High School; and a veteran of the Army 101st Airborne Division. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Gettysburg and Chambersburg. Mr. Pyles was a member of Fairfield AMVETS Post 172; Albert J. Lentz Post 202 of the American Legion, Gettysburg; VFW Post 15, Gettysburg; the Matchbox Club of America; and the Latimore Valley, South Mountain and Williams Grove Steam Engine and Tractor Association. Also surviving are his wife of 25 years, Karen Dayhoff Pyles; two children, Kari A. Pyles and Kenneth A. Pyles, both of Littlestown; a maternal grandmother, Mary E. Snyder of Gettysburg; a brother, Timothy Pyles, and a sister, Debra Kauffman, both of Gettysburg; a stepsister, Jeanne Harris, and a stepbrother, Michael Hartman, both of Colorado Springs, Colo. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 E. High St., Gettysburg, with the Rev. Roy D. Fauth officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church, to the American Cancer Society or to the Hanover VNA Hospice, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, Pa. 17331.
