Hazel Hartwig Obituary

Hazel Ruby Hartwig, 86, of Bartlesville passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Dan Denison officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
Hazel was born July 25, 1924 in Blackwell, OK to Alphie and Alta (Shierrey) Houser. She grew up southwest of Blackwell and attended a rural school near her home. In 1940 the family moved to Nowata, OK.
Hazel married the love of her life, Billy Ray Hartwig, on December 5, 1942 at the First Nazarene Church in Nowata. Hazel was employed by City Service Gas Company for 11 years and was a Bartlesville Schools Cafeteria employee for 17 years before her retirement in 1986. Hazel and Billy had a love for motorcycles. They enjoyed riding their Harley and made sure their sons Jim and Bob had a Harley also.
Hazel is survived by one son, Jim Hartwig of Dewey, two grandsons; Jim Hartwig, Jr. of Dallas, TX and John Hartwig of Tulsa along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Billy Ray Hartwig, son, Bob Hartwig, brothers, Henry and David Houser and sister, Stella Colvan.
