L.J. Stone Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - L.J. Stone, 69, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Stone was a loving husband, father and PaPa Jay to his grandchildren. He worked for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office for 17 years and for Food Lion in Dunn for six years. He was a member of Baywood Pentecostal Holiness Church for 13 years. He loved watching Jeff Gordon race and the Boston Red Sox. His love of gospel music was a big part of his daily life. Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Gladys J. Stone of Fayetteville; son, Michael Stone and wife Carla of Linden; daughter, Kim Stone of Fayetteville; brother, Burney Williamson of Lake City, S.C; four grandchildren, Zac, Nick, Dylan and Blake; and a great-grandson, Caden. Mr. Stone was preceded in death by a sister, Retha Mae Williamson; and granddaughter, Melanie Brooke Stone. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory in Fayetteville with Pastors Richard Robinson and Don Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the funeral Home. Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory of Fayetteville.
