Tom Eck

Mr. Tom Eck, 83, of Port Wentworth, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at Landmark Hospital. Tom was born in Nashville, Tenn., and had lived in Dublin, Ga., for 43 years before moving to Port Wentworth in 2021. He was a longtime member of the Pine Forest Methodist Church in Dublin, then joined the Port Wentworth Methodist Church, where he was active in the Prayer Warrior Group. He helped start the SP Newsprint, then retired after 27 years of service. He was very involved in family and church activities, and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and being a part of the Kiwanis Club in Dublin. Tom had a servant's heart and always helped others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lois Heyer Eck; his wife, Dot Eck; and his brother, Ted Eck. Survivors include his children, Eric and Sherry Eck, Hunter Eck and Sharon Dubberly, Laura and Scott Weatherford and Kyle Eck; grandchildren, Kevin and Faith Eck, Andrew and Brooke Eck, Jonathan Eck, Paisley Eck, Shyanne Eck and Gunner Kibler; great-grandchildren, Thomas Eck, Grace Eck and Levi Eck; sister, Pat Dominick; as well as several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are the children that Tom and Dot fostered for 12 years.
The visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will be on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Port Wentworth Methodist Church, located at 201 Turnberry St. The burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the Port Wentworth Methodist Church, Tom Eck Scholarship Fund Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Homes, West Chatham Chapel, 901 W. Hwy. 80, Pooler, GA.
