Philip J. Keller, 77, died on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at Heatherdowns Rehab Center in Toledo, Ohio after nearly a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on Jan. 19, 1937, in Wauseon to the late Philip and Eva (Lichtenwald) Keller. Philip was baptized and confirmed at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon. He married Lillian Kahrs, his loving wife of almost 56 years, on Nov. 9, 1958, and she survives.
Philip proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was very involved at Trinity Lutheran in Toledo, where he served as an elder, treasurer, secretary, a member of the choir, an usher, a member of the dartball team, and treasurer of the Lutheran Dartball League. He was also a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League, German Lutheran Heritage, and Lutheran League Bowling, and served as treasurer for the Chesterfield-Dover Alumni Association. Philip was a gold medal winner in swimming in the Senior Olympics.
He is also survived by his son, Scot (Laura); daughter, Ann (Mark) Presley; grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, James, and Caitlyn; brother, Victor; and sister-in-law, Marie.
Philip was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald; sister, Ruth Irene; and sister-in-law, Wanda.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Ave. in Toledo. A private interment at Bayes Cemetery in Wauseon will follow.
Friends and family will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., in Maumee.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Laymen's League.
