I, too, live in Mt. Vernon and was born in Fond du Lac. I'm a retired teacher, having taught 33 years in the Mt. Vernon school district. Twenty-nine years ago we had a student who had TB in my school and all of the school nurses had to check everybody in the school. Corinne, as Head Nurse, was calling the teachers to be checked. How surprised she was when she saw on my card that I was born in Fond du Lac. She asked me about my relatives, and it turned out that my young widowed grandmother and her 2 daughters (my mother and my aunt) had lived in the big red brick house that Corinne's parents owned on 9th St. Corinne and my mother and aunt all played together and took dancing lessons together! I do remember seeing photos of my mother and aunt and another little girl practicing their dancing in the yard. What a small world! Corinne and I were so happy and delighted to make that connection.
