Eileen Wagner Obituary

Eileen Wagner

Fond du Lac - Eileen Wagner, 86, passed away on February 6, 2018 at Theda Clark Regional Hospital in Neenah. She was born in Oshkosh to Willard and Rosella (Buscha) Smith.

Eileen traveled with the USO and entertained American troops in combat zones during World War II and continued her professional dancing career throughout her early adult years.

On March 6, 1954 Eileen married Donald Wagner at the Church of Peace. Don preceded her in death in June of 2017.

Eileen and Don loved to travel, traveling to every state in the U.S., every Providence of Canada, and different parts of the world. They also enjoyed camping and square-dancing. In their later years, together they volunteered at Broken Bread.

Eileen was a stay-at-home Mom except during Christmas when she worked at Miles Kimball to create an amazing Christmas for her children every year. Eileen was a Girl Scout leader and camp director at Camp Canahiti in Fond du Lac and a member of St. Paul's Cathedral for many years. Eileen also collected the St. Paul's Cathedral church mice ornaments and giraffes. In addition, Eileen was a lifetime member of the Sweet Adelines.

Eileen's survivors include one son Thomas Wagner of Houston, TX; two daughters Darleen "DoBee"(Dave) Kobs of Fond du Lac and Kitty (Rick) Scherer of Sheboygan Falls and one granddaughter Jennifer Scherer of Madison.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents and two brothers James and Jack.

Visitation: Eileen's family will receive relatives and friends at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM.

Service: A funeral service will be celebrated at 1:00 PM at the funeral home following visitation on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park.

Eileen's family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Stroke Center - Neuro Unit (2 South), Dr. Mattio, Dr. Hartmann, Dr. Santa Cruz, the staff and volunteers at Harbor Haven and Rehabilitation - Harbor Island and the fourth floor staff at St. Agnes Hospital for the compassionate and thorough care of their mother.

In closing, and as Eileen would often say, "Stay out of mischief!"
